What is a way, other than watching your diet,to lose weight whilst going through menopause?
Work with weights to gain muscle m which will increase your resting metabolic rate and also help to regulate your hormones. When you go through menopause your ovaries no longer produce the hormones that help you burn fat tissue effectively and keep it distributed evenly throughout the body. You will find that without exercise your excess body fat will migrate to the middle! Interval exercising (short bouts of 10 - 30 seconds of all out exertion) will also help release super hormones such as adrenaline, nor-epinephrine and epinephrine (the 'feel good' hormones) from your adrenal and pituitary glands. Building muscle will be challenging at first so the more you have as you start this part of your life, the easier it will be as you simply try to maintain. If you were only able to have enough time or energy to do one type of exercise, make it strength training over the cardio. The muscle m is the key. And don't worry, I'm going through it and many other women are too and we look great. You can too. If you would like to contact me, you can do so through my website at www.myfridayfitness.com. Thanks so much and keep your chin up and smile.
