Who's political power was more powerful Mahatma Gandhi or Malcolm X?

Both Malcolm X and Mahatma Gandhi wanted to achieve political change for the people they represented, but each advocated different means to achieve those ends. What are the advantages and disadvantages of both violent and non-violent means of effecting political change.
