Will gl fireplace doors make my fireplace radiate more heat?

I've been wanting to get a wood burning stove insert, but I can't afford it right now. I was wondering if I were to install gl fireplace doors on my fireplace, would that radiate more heat similar to a wood burning stove and make the room warmer?
